Did the planets align in your favour? The moment of truth is upon us. Five lucky winners and a special guest prize draw drawer! Watch now to find out who!
To celebrate the launch of The Brightonians Under Siege, in addition to a limited-edition framed print of the cover artwork by award-winning artist Sarah Arnett, I’m giving away some of the fascinating materials I gathered while researching into fortune-telling and ancient divination systems. Like the book and cards based on the runes, pictured here.
If you were subscribed to my website by end of play on 31st March 2024, then you were entered into the draw.
Winners have now been notified. If you do not receive an email from me, I‘m afraid you are not a winner this time, but there will be more prizes up for grabs over the next few months, so fingers crossed.
Also up for grabs is this book by Michael A Howard, which I found invaluable when trying to understand the cross-over between different Nordic ’alphabets’.
Of course, no study of fortune telling would be complete without a look at tarot. And whilst ultimately I focused upon the Nordic and Celtic divination systems of my ancestors, I did send for my own set of cards - beautifully presented in their own wooden box.
The rarest of the items I am giving away is this 1930s edition of Cheiro’s Book of Numbers, in which he explains their magical properties and their power. Utterly captivating from start to end, it has to be the most surprising example in my small collection.
Though the divination system Pagan Pete uses is primarily Saxon in origin, it is heavily influenced by the beliefs of the people whose land they conquered. And in particular their reverence for the forests that still covered most of Britain in the Dark Ages. One such divination system was the ogham, which consisted of a serious of lines carved into wood that mainly represented trees.
And finally, from my collection of books and ephemera on divination, is this colourful set of cards and accompanying book centred around the Celtic oracle.
And last but not least, a signed and framed limited-edition print of the cover artwork designed by award-winning artist, Sarah Arnett.
All winners have been notified by email.
